Genealogical data is riddled with problems. Some problems are easy to identify and others are not. The purpose of the Problem Finder is to search for blatant issues with genealogy data.

The Problem Finder has not been built yet. It's in the planning phase.

Users will be able to search just their tree or across all people.

• Parents born less than 16 years before their first child
  • Parents may add an "early pregnancy" flag that will remove them from this problem list
  • It may be appropriate to modify the year of 16 years up or down

• Spouses birth more than 10 years apart
  • Spouses may add an "older/younger spouse" flag that will remove them from this problem list
  • Is 10 years appropriate?

• Families where the # of children do not match
  • Each family can have an exact number of children such as 4 specified on the marriage record. If for some reason the number of children actually attached increases or decreases because of a merge or other type of edit, that marriage will get added to this list.
  • No exemption flag is possible for this
  • This feature is also a security measure since it could stop others from adding themselves to the tree for the purposes of stealing identities. This would only work however if we actually stopped people from adding rather than just catching them after the fact.

• Circular loops - None of your blood descendents can be your blood ancestors at the same time
  • No exemption flag is possible for this
  • The date checks above should check this unless there are no birth dates
