As you can see, most everything is FREE on this website!! This is a crucial part of the success of Muscatelli Genealogy Wiki. Everything here is donated: the programming, the servers, the content. If you would like to contribute to the site financially, be sure to Donate or support our advertisers.

[edit] How is Muscatelli Genealogy Wiki different from other genealogy sharing programs?

There are several other companies attempting to build large genealogy sharing web applications. And there are a few more that may start (i.e. the LDS Church). However, there are crucial problem with each one that will cause them to not reach their potential. For competitive reasons, I have decided not to enumerate the reasons here until they become apparent on their own.

[edit] Who is involved with Muscatelli Genealogy Wiki?

Although I fully plan on recruiting others to help me with this project, all of the code and much of the design is done by me, Debra Muscatelli. I do software development during the day and have extensive programming, database, and genealogy experience. I am also the founder of Muscatelli.info--a personal genealogy website. I have also begun learning genealogy on and off again for the past 6 months. This is a hobby for me right now and I will work on this as time permits. If you're interested in help out, please let me know. BTW, I often use "we" since I work with my sister, Chrissy and I plan on recruiting others soon and don't want to re-edit the website later on.

[edit] How do you secure private information?

Much of your genealogy record should and will stay private. To ensure this, we one-way encrypt all passwords, meaning only you will ever know your password. All living people born after 1930 are automatically marked as private records. Only a limited set of relatives can view your record. We also show you a list of every user who has viewed your record for audit purposes.

[edit] Why can I still see information from other people's family trees?

You can view information for any individual who has a death event, who is more than 100 years old, who is in your family line, or that you created. See Privacy for more more information.
